I am afraid of the slippery slope: the way things are going with our society, soon you will have to accept sexualisation of children, or you will be labelled a bigot.
So maybe it is not surprising after all that youtube is doing this.
- danaris 8y agoI've seen that argument before—if, indeed, you are saying that pedophilia will be treated like just another form of sexuality—but I don't think it holds any water. The same communities that are most strongly in favour of normalizing all the facets of LGBTQ+ sexualities, gender identities, etc are also, generally speaking, almost fanatically devoted to the idea of consent. Minors can't consent. There are certainly groups of people trying to push for the normalization of pedophilia (I've seen various places talk about "Minor Attracted Persons", or "MAP", mostly in the context of PSAs warning young people to beware of them), but they are, at least for the most part, entirely separate from the people trying to make every type of sexual activity imaginable between consenting adults normal and accepted.
- kfwhp 8y ago>Minors can't consent. That's where it breaks down: they will say "well, maybe 16+ yos CAN consent after all!", and then the number will start getting lower and lower. I mean... I hope I'm wrong. But we have gone down this road already ;)
- danaris 8y agoWhat road? When have we gone down it?
- falcolas 8y agoBeing attracted to someone is never a justification for breaking consent. If someone uses that attraction as justification for non-consensual sexual activity, it's sexual assault, plain and simple.
- on_and_off 8y agoHonestly, I don't want to strawman op but most people that use the slippery slope argument are just mad that LGBTQ+/brown people/women are treated a little bit less like shit and just want to go back to the moral splendor that was the past.
- on_and_off 8y agoHow ? I don't believe there has been any slippery slope : child molestation is just as horrible as it was one year or 10 years ago. What have you seen slipping ?
