Ask HN: What do you think about Micro-payments?

I was wondering what HN community thinks about Micro-payments? Paying a few cents to $10 per month for a service / product like iPhone Apps, Subscription service etc.? What all services have you subscribed too? Does this seem to be more effective model for startups? If twitter facebook or let's say even HN had a micro-payment system - would you pay? (Not trying to say that they should, just want to know your thoughts about it)
