Correlation, causation. That link provides nothing to say that vaping leads to smoking apart from the say-so of their analyst. It’s equally possible that their smoking leads to vaping.
- porphyrogene 8y agoThis is what ignoring evidence looks like. The study is very clear on how they gathered their data and how it was analyzed.
- capitalsigma 8y agoVaping among former smokers is clearly different from vaping among the tobacco niave: I know what cigarettes are like and I don't want to go back.
- madaxe_again 8y agoThis is what dogmatism looks like. The study is very clear that the behavioural flow goes both ways, and that this is a cohort rather than individual effect: “Models revealed robust reciprocal associations between EC and cigarette use, such that more frequent EC use at one time predicted more frequent cigarette use at the subsequent time, and vice versa. Between-person analyses showed associations between shared risk factors and both EC and cigarette use. However, shared risk factors did not predict frequency of subsequent EC and cigarette use in within-person analyses.” Please, show me where they say it is clearly causative.
- porphyrogene 8y ago> Please, show me where they say it is clearly causative. You are either being intentionally obtuse or you misunderstand the purpose of a study. This is a published study, not a Fox News article.
- madaxe_again 8y agoAh, resorting to ad hominem attacks because you can’t. Alright, then.
