This may be fair for "free" service like search. It gets way more complicated when the consumer is (a) paying for the device, (b) paying for the content they consume and (c) paying for the bandwidth it uses. All I have to do now is explain to my mother-in-law that she hasn't paid "enough". I'm sure she'll totally understand.
