Ask HN: Programmable toys for ages 9 and above?

I got a mBot for my nephew and he quickly outgrew it. Any other toys/robots (< 200$ USD) that is programmable that you can recommend? Would be nice if he has to assemble the pieces himself and write instructions to make it do something - instead of ready made stuff. He is a sharp kid, so it would be nice if it is not too basic, as he figures out things fast and then gets bored.
