I think this is more on the city and state government than Amazon itself. Of course Amazon was going to push for the sweetest deal they could get but Cuomo and DeBlasio bent the rules too far and the massive push back was justified, if I recall correctly the city council was going to use some really iliberal moves to get this tax package through. NYC could've had Amazon, even with decent tax breaks, but the government just went too far without the support of its constituents.
