I agree, apps like these and previously musically (sp?) are extremely shallow and promote narcissistic traits in gullible teenagers. Glad I was not a teen in 2019.
- icelancer 8y agoThere were plenty of other mechanisms whenever you were in high school to promote "narcissistic traits in gullible teenagers," a sentence which is probably the most "old man yells at clouds" thing I've heard in a week.
- doorbellguy 8y agoLet me clarify : I did not say this was the "only' thing that distracts teens. Your passive aggressive statement shows that you're having a bad day and want to be rude just for the sake of it. Good day.
- dang 8y agoPersonal attacks aren't ok here, even when another comment crosses into incivility. In order for HN to be the kind of forum we're hoping for, it's necessary that we all have the patience to wait out the first surge of anger that comes up when somebody posts something unfair. Believe me I know it's not easy. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- doorbellguy 8y agoThank you, I tried to be as civil as possible when typing out my reply. Still I appreciate you chiming in. >Believe me I know it's not easy. IKR! Seeing rude comments like that outta nowhere really grinds gears. Please let me know if you have banned me :)
- dang 8y agoWe haven't banned you. Unless there's evidence of past abuse, we don't ban people before giving them a couple of hopefully-polite requests.
- dang 8y agoPlease don't cross into incivility.
