thank you for providing your judgement on benevolence of policies in countries and regions you admit not following. At least you're "morally right"...

- ilovetux 8y agofair enough. I do not have the knowledge or perspective to actually qualify what I said. Depopulation can be a serious problem and I can understand why a population would want to stick to their own people before opening the floodgates to strangers. I think I may have unfairly cast their leader in a different light. There are some parallels between my country's leadership and theirs with building a wall on their southern border and trying to limit imigration, and i know these policies from my country come from a place of hate and distrust it is entirely possible that I let this bias my judgement. I do apologize if I've offended anyone and would be interested in any background anyone would like to provide.
- alephx 8y agoAs I Mexican I am only surprised by how building a wall came to be this hate crime by the USA. The majority of Mexicans support building a wall on our southern border and the distrust of immigrants is highly warranted. I can only see that the US wants one of their own as reasonable. Plus, if the militarization of the US-Mexico border leads to decreased drug and sex trafficking it would be a net positive for Mexico. Popular opinion is that the only problem it would bring would be that a lot of this immigrants would (unlawfully, of course) choose to make Mexico their home. People are shocked that there has been quite a bit of support for immigrants by our government when we have plenty of issues with our own people (lack of jobs, opportunities, very low quality education, famine) to be concerned for the welfare of strangers. Plus the immigrants reputation is earned; South American gangs have become a scourge of our cities outskirts.
