I don't know if it's my age and this is normal but this fits perfectly with my feeling that the music which ends up on the charts now sound very similar within their genre. It feels like it's the same tunes being played over and over and as someone who's english is the second (third) language, I grew up not listening to the lyrics which makes it sound even more similar. I just thought about one song I heard on the radio that stayed in my mind and the first one that came into my mind was "Portugal The Man - Feel It Still" and this is only because it's actually "The Marvelettes - Please Mr. Postman" from '61... My personal taste is also stuck in the past somewhere around the time The Prodigy was rhythmic and MTV played actual music.
