GTK is 100% designed to be a (Wayland/X/Windows/Mac) client. Shoving it into the display server is bound to end in disaster.
- shmerl 8y ago> Shoving it into the display server is bound to end in disaster. KWin have no problem using Qt, so I don't buy the disaster argument in general for such solutions. But may be GTK is a lot worse.
- majewsky 8y agoAFAIK KWin mostly uses QtCore and maybe QtOpenGL and does most of the XCB/Wayland stuff by itself, precisely because they're a X11/Wayland compositor, not client.
- shmerl 8y agoBut it's enough to be able to draw basic window decorations (i.e. border with title bar with control buttons). So why can't Mutter do the same to address the case of SDL-like windows that would prefer server side decorations?
