What a refreshing difference to other Linux ecosystem changes! Errors like enforcing client side decorations get corrected, there seems to be activity to add the features missing compared to X, and most importantly: Instead of replacing the existing working solution with broken crap because it's modern, Wayland slowly integrates itself into the ecosystem, and it has Xwayland, which should minimize breakage when moving over in a few years. And if I look at the stutter X produces with my window manager every time the compositor is off, and given that said compositor compton is abandoned and there seems to be no better alternative, I understand that there might be a need for a different solution.
I got hit by strange Wayland bugs when distros like Ubuntu and Fedora activated it too early and I'm not looking to make the switch anytime soon, but I wish the project the best and am happy to see it seems to be on a good way.
