That kind of fluke thing could have just have easily have happened to the 'nice guy', and he would be the dead one right now. Its not clear who in your story was the aggressor, but there is no shame in defending yourself. And of course, violence is always the last option.
- T_S_ 16y agoPure self-defense, sure, no legal guilt and no public shame. Privately, who knows? They were both 'nice guys' BTW.

- T_S_ 16y agoThe first sentence of my reply was in the hypothetical world posed by the previous message. As to the actual fight, I don't know who started the fight, or who had pure motives. The judgement of 'nice' is more to indicate that we are not talking about 'badass' guys who made a habit of fighting.
