I find the phrase "ontology reflects phylogeny" in the abstract to be a bit odd. The original formulation was “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny” and Stephen Jay Gould has written a book on the history of the idea, so I'm not sure if the revision is intentional or due to sloppiness.
