Google News was the trigger for me to start moving away from Google platforms because of privacy concerns. It felt wrong to scan the results and have something catch your eye only to remember you were looking at something similar earlier in the day. Customization may be good for some areas but seems dangerous for news. The other shocker for me was when they released a way to view your historical location. I had had no idea that the app was tracking my daily commute for the previous year, and it was enough to make me switch to DuckDuckGo.
