I do React at work and Elm for personal projects, and I feel the React ecosystem is trying too hard to become something its not. Hooks to me are an added level of complexity, and doesn't simplify the way I write or test components. I don't really mind the class based components as I feel there is less magic. Personally, React had a great run, but it's time to move on to a more purpose built language/framework.
