And most serious professionals, most people who actually try to maximize their productivity, will be at some level of touch typing - not having to look at the keyboard while they type. So this makes much more sense for non-professional use cases - where the iPad might already be a winner anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if this was just a defensive patent that never makes it into a product.
