This is one step towards the reinstatement of the gold standard, whereby Trump will remove the central banks' ability to inflate the dollar and devalue the wealth of Americans.
- jdhn 8y agoI doubt that Trump is a gold bug, and even if he was, I don't think he's crafty enough to come up with a plan to bring the gold standard back.
- pesmhey 8y agoYeah, it’s super frustrating that some people would prefer the gold standard to the ‘the US is almost flawlessly credit/trust-worthy, and has a big military, and guarantees world peace more-or-less’-standard. Like, gold will never have that much intrinsic value.
- raducu 8y agoDidn't Trump complain about FED raising rates and hurting the stock market? Wouldn't the gold standard tie down central banks ability to do quantitative easing/low interest rates thing that they did after 2008?
- notfromhere 8y agothe gold standard is going to wreck havoc for most Americans. this isn't a good thing.
- notfromhere 8y agoTrump is going to increase the cost of his own borrowing? cue laughter
