Get a number in a completely different area code than where you live. In an attempt to appear legitimate and get answered lots of spam calls with come from the area code of your phone number. If I get a call from the area code where I live I pick it up because it’s usually the vet, doctor, school, mechanic, etc. But if I get a call from an unknown number in the area code of my phone # I can safely ignore it and let it go to voicemail. If it’s legitimate they will leave a message (and it’s never been legitimate so far).
