One thing that I will note is that Matthias often makes somewhat risky cuts and is known to joke about what the "safety police" will think of it. He obviously has a very deep understanding of his tools (since he built most of them) and where the danger lies, but I would say that he also intentionally accepts a little extra risk with cuts to save time. In his specific case I think he does have enough experience to make the trade-off safely, but if you were a new woodworker I would not learn any safety techniques from his videos.
