As of this year all apps that use the Google Gmail API have to undergo an independent assessment from a security firm to ensure that they are; a) not mishandling data b) not breaching Google's privacy policies c) securing data appropriately There is a grace period for existing apps, but we have to undergo this assessment soon if we want to be allowed to keep running.
