I feel like I've been ranting about this for years. Way more the 50% of the web is simply content - text and images. Pages that serve up content should be HTML and CSS, period. Why do I sit around waiting for pages to render on magazine websites? Because the developers built what should have been a very simple website as a single-page app with a fat framework and 9000 supporting libraries. Development tell the business and tell themselves that it's about creating a great user experience, but it's really just fashion, and what sounds like fun to build.
