Half of my spam calls these days are from numbers that are supposedly in the same area code as my phone (likely spoofed as I've called a couple back before and the person didn't know what I was talking about when I said they called me) but since I no longer live in that area code I am able to use that as an identifier.
- magduf 8y agoIt's the same for me. Any time I see a call from my phone's area code, I know it's 99% likely to be spam (the other 1% is a recruiter, who I also don't want to talk to because they're trying to get me to take a job back in that same area code). Having a phone with a far-away area code is actually really useful just for this reason, I've found.
