Curiosity is having a problem and caring about finding out why it isn't working. Grit is having the resolve to keep chipping away at the problem until it's solved. Patience is realizing that things take time.
Whenever a junior starts asking me things when I'm on a deadline, I politely tell them to "keep looking". I'll potentially provide a hint if it will help. Some get annoyed and scoff at me and tell me "I've been searching!". Others keep looking.

Reviewing their search terms and suggesting alternatives should take very little time and helps them keep searching and gets them off your back for a little while. It is also not as dismissive as 'keep searching'

- maxxxxx 8y ago" 1) curiosity 2) Grit 3) Patience" That's it. And I have the feeling that with programming being considered as a lucrative career a lot of people come into this profession that don't have these qualities and would be better off doing something else.
