There is a demand for a FOSS, realtime, safety critical OS for embedded systems. Linux and QNX are the main options right now, but they both have their downsides (QNX being proprietary and Linux being monolithic).

FreeRTOS maybe ? But I am not quite sure what is the exact license, or if there are restrictions in terms of features for the free version.

I doubt Linux faires that well against something like INTEGRITY OS.
