I'm actually quite interested in finding out which London tech companies use which languages/frameworks/tools. I write PHP because it's what I work with, but I'd like to learn the language that will help me find the most jobs. Anyone know of a tool that does that?

- tabtab 8y agoI think libraries (API's & frameworks) matter more than languages in a good many cases. Most mature dynamic languages are flexible enough to give you plenty of ways to express things such that libraries are the difference makers. (And they all have their own warts.) Rank and file coders are mostly just "library gluers" anyhow, for good or bad. A "better" language won't change that aspect much. Thus, with PHP versus Python battles, for example, looking at libraries matters more. (PHP tends to be easier to set up for web-oriented projects. Something to consider for small or often-changing teams.)
