I was shocked when i saw how remote tests work. They are essentially a rootkit! At many UC campuses, this is required. And the students only learn about this after they are halfway on the class.
The vendor of that immoral spyware to UC is pearson (after they acquired(?) blackboard). A deal clearly out of personal enrichment within the UC, because their content is decades old, and Pearson is so crappy at software that there is a subreddit for badly designed software named after them https://www.reddit.com/r/PearsonDesign/ https://www.reddit.com/r/PearsonDesign/
But i guess getting kickbacks for the sales of courseware books now that the $300+ book can't be bought used because the one-time online code will be void, failing the student, is enough to make people at UC sleep very well.
