I don't work at Apple and I'm not a journalist. I'm offering a possible reason why this is relevant, tying it to another trend (convergence of platform UX frameworks) that is well discussed and already has code shipping today (Marzipan apps). I'm also offering reasons why both companies would find it valuable. Why would Apple pay Microsoft for this? They might cut a better deal, but pay them?
