"Up to 16GB" in 2019 means it's not upgradable, and not worth buying, because developers like hardware that they can upgrade in 2-5 years if needed.
- dmix 8y agoAnyone know why this is the case? Using a limited motherboard or something? 16gb should be standard these days for a developer laptop... with expansion to 32gb.
- mixmastamyk 8y agoUltraportable limits are generally courtesy of the Intel chipset.
- Latteland 8y agoThis would be a way for amd to make headway into the laptop market, if they made it easy to get 32+ gb.
- alexott 8y agoFor developers it should be 32 out of box, plus upgrade to 64... And they have already models with 32Gb in 2017th
- Flip-per 8y agoAbsolutely. My more than 7 year old X220 now has 12GB RAM and would support up to 16GB afaik. Moreover it has a non-glossy screen, and a replaceable battery.
- tomp 8y agoIndeed. Not supporting 32GB is a disgrace for both Dell (“developer edition” LOL) and Apple. The main reason I’m skipping laptop upgrades this year...
- JoshuaRLi 8y agoAgreed, and it's unfortunately still soldered. Talk about planned obsolescence...
