Do both of your non-MacBook laptops have old spindle hard drives? I find that is much of the difference between “slower” and “faster” computers. SSDs have come down in price significantly, so it’s worth the upgrade if you use the computers on a regular basis.

My first ever laptop(2010) is still running and has a magnetic hard drive. I can't believe I went through half of college on this thing.
