I remember getting to my first Job and they had Pentium4 based machines (the last stepping that supported x64) with exactly 4gb of ram. They were dog slow but it also meant we were able to see and address performance problems early because they were more pronounced. I remember taking one bug from taking an hour to run to less than a second.
- sephoric 8y agoI kind of wish I was in that boat right now. I made a highly praised window manager[0] for macOS that some people[1] have reported some performance issues with. But I can't reproduce the issue, possibly because I have 16GB of RAM and don't use it all. Maybe I don't have enough Electron apps running and should install Slack and others (I run Slack in Safari when working with clients), not joking that literally seems to be the main environment difference.
