Previously the TSA was just security theater. It was useless, but it wasn't too annoying so people went along with it. Prohibiting printer cartridges on flights are just the latest useless version of this. But I think they're crossing a line with the scanners. They're really getting a groundswell of opposition, and I'm not sure how they'll be able to deal with it as such a dysfunctional, myopic agency.
