I recognise that I'm in the minority here, but when I program on something high density but small (physically), I long for more screen real estate. I find this far more important to me than the DPI. I use 2x24" 1920x1200 (I do prefer that than 1920x1080)
I didn't like the 30" 4K screen that I had to use for work. When I used a 24" 4K the extra DPI didn't seem to impact me at all.
My big dilemma is do I go for a 3rd 24"
- chadcmulligan 8y agoI use 2 x 24" monitors to. I've tried various other combinations, but this seems to be the sweet spot. The real advantage I find is you can maximise your apps to each monitor and just flick between them if needed. They're also cheap. I have tried the 3rd 24" and I found I just leave mail and stuff open on it, mainly because it was there. Two seems to work for me. I have one for my IDE to edit code, and the other one for other stuff. I keep thinking I should do something more sophisticated, but I always come back to this. I find larger monitors I have to move my head a lot more as well, with the 24" eye movement is enough.
