What's so "most beautiful" about HTML+CSS masquerading (badly) as UIKit?
I know, I know, every web framework is "best", "most" and "beautiful". But still, for once I would like to know what is so "beautiful" about web emulating native in a bad manner.
- placebo 8y agoMore software development options give you more freedom to choose a path that gives the best solution to the problem you're trying to solve. That is "beautiful" for me. Software development in the real world is a game of trade-offs. You have time-to-market and various other business considerations to take into account. Many times, choosing the "best" technological solution will harm your business. What is best and beautiful depends on the wider context.
- dvh 8y agoThe killer feature of web is that there are at least 5 implementations from major vendors (Mozilla, Google, apple, Microsoft, Opera). Nothing else come close. I've been burned too many times before by discontinued products to use anything else for UI.
- neoeldex 8y agoFunny thing is there's practically only Mozilla and Google left with their browsers. Microsoft, Apple and Opera all basically piggyback on the chrome renderer (prolly not entirely true for safari, but it doesn't run on anything besides apple anymore)
- skrowl 8y agoI consider not having to write an app in Swift/Metal/Whatever Apple crap and different app in Java/NDK/whatever Android crap to be pretty "beautiful". That said, I use Xamarin instead of this.
