I've never understood HOW these stories make the news.
The way it plays out in my head:
* Guy submits app, app is rejected. Guy fires off email to Steve.
* Steve calls.
* Guy alerts the media?
- smackfu 16y agoWhen you hear about an interesting blog post, you post it to Hacker News. When a reporter hears about an interesting blog post, they contact the guy and write a story and get paid for it.
- jeffclark 16y agoThe moral of the story: figure out a way to get paid for posting to Hacker News.
- haploid 16y agoI believe the point of interest is that the CEO of the largest tech company in the United States( by market capitalization, anyway )personally reads developer email and replies by phone call. As CEO behavior goes, this is not typical; even less so for such a large( again, by market cap )organization.
- tcarnell 16y agoMaybe I'm the skeptic here, but what if that phone call never took place? What an awesome way to promote your new and recently approved iPad application... Simply claim that Steve Jobs personally phoned you up... Any press that comes out of the story is guaranteed to mention the name and nature of the application... and probably Steve IS too busy to care...
