I've used it intensively for Java, Python and even Rust and due to suspending my laptop i probably only restart IntelliJ every few weeks. I've noticed that sometimes plugins can be a problem. The Help->Show Logs Menu can be quite helpful. I've had a plugin leading to a lot of freezes of IntelliJ and the threadDumps immediately showed where the problem was. Another nice feature (logging thread dumps when the IDE freezes).
