Does this mean that for any service offering a free trial, every subsequent post-trial payment must come with an email or text receipt? What if it's a recurring service but it didn't have a free trial? Is the email/text receipt still required as part of Mastercard's rules? If it only applies to free trials, it sounds like a lot of merchants will simply stop offering free trials. I'm curious to see by which mechanism merchants are to "gain cardholder approval at the conclusion of the trial before they start billing".
