People who haven't been in that kind of relationship can't really know what it's like.
You really do have to sever all ties with a person like that. You can't be in 50%, they demand all of you and more.
It sounds like you did the right thing.

And I really look for the best in people too What helped me was when my best friend growing up committed suicide a few months ago, when I was home I kept thinking how amazing a person he was, how nice, how pure and caring.... Then I thought about this person I was spending all my time with, the opposite kind of person. It made me sad to lose someone so good, I decided I would cut that other person out because they were so bad. IF that makes sense...
