the vast majority of attempts to develop the "un developed, underserved" parts of alaska in any way, will not be recieved with much more than consternation, and can go to the extent of physical violence. Thats the way that people here are.
im not advocating it but it is an inconvenient truth for anyone wanting to invest here. Anyone wishing to invest in alaska needs to get an idea how the demographic will recieve it. We have a very hard time getting kids to go to school, let alone utilizing anything technical. We teach bush skills to such kids as part of daily life, but science math STEM in general is viewed as baggage the man wants to saddle us with. There is a big issue with return for investment.
The idea of a "lower 48" guy inserting the thin edge of a wedge into the alaskan lifestyle is a very itchy spot.
Now to flip the coin and provide a solution rather than herkening to a problem, a big issue of concern is connectivity and quality of mobile phone service. there is very little mobile competition here and little desire seemingly on the providers part to provide connectivity beyond the Anchorage to Fairbanks corridor.
