Go out and get an 8-5 job, make some money, become independent and work on your project on the side.
Also- don't be afraid to make mistakes.
- gaoshan 16y agoThis is a good point. I'm a 42 year old software french fry cook (rock star code ninja I am most definitely not) but I'm happy, make money and get to spend time with my family. The downside is that I don't exercise my IQ as much as I'd like at work but to make up for it I study Chinese, read and work on personal projects.
- ethan_ 16y agoBut I really want to be an astronaut ;-). If I fail my astronaut exam, perhaps I'll temporarily make french fries, only to be back for the next astronaut exam. Getting a job right now is like preparing for the astronaut exam, not taking it, and deciding to make french fries instead. While making french fries I'll constantly be wondering whether I would have passed the exam and become an astronaut. At the moment, the pressure put on myself to become independent and self-sustainable is less than the pressure to finish this project.
