Imagine a Beowulf cluster of these!
- drcode 8y agoHuh, what ever happened to Beowulf clusters... I guess they were superseded by the whole Hadoop and mapreduce stuff...
- elihu 8y agoWe just started calling them clusters.
- chrisseaton 8y agoBeowulf was about the hardware and the interconnect - both being commodity. Not about the software. Most Hadoop etc runs on Beowulf I’d imagine. Clusters used to use more custom hardware and interconnects - that’s now the exception rather than the norm. You still find that in some HPC situations but most people manage with commodity cloud.
- walshemj 8y agoDepends on cluster design and size big ones use exotic interconnects not your traditional network design
- noipv4 8y agoJust build the same cluster with threadripeers add 1 or 2 extra nodes and you should be even without getting involved in auction and stuff
