Vegetarians at the gate

- lucideer 8y agoThe article does discuss vegans—in the intro and throughout—but I can't see any conflation. Neither in the intro nor elsewhere. Where are you seeing this? I get that the title refers to "vegetarians at the gate" and the article goes on to mostly discuss vegans and vegan food, but vegatarians eat vegan food, and even the tagline itself says "Many vegans want to destroy the modern food system. Investor Chris Kerr wants to use it to take plant-based products mainstream.", which to me implies that his plans cater to vegetarians (and pesce-/flexe-tarians, et al.) rather than siding with the implied antagonistic vocal vegan minority.
- cupofjoakim 8y agoWell, to be fair, historically "Vegan" is kind of a new term. Vegetarian was vegan before, but nowadays we say "Vegetarian" but we mean specifically lacto-ovo vegetarians (i.e. still consuming eggs and milk).
- lwhi 8y agoI don't think that's true, I was vegetarian all through the 80s, and vegans existed then.
