We already can cut off the JVM from CLJS development https://anmonteiro.com/2017/02/compiling-clojurescript-projects-without-the-jvm/ https://anmonteiro.com/2017/02/compiling-clojurescript-proje... But node is way slower then JVM and once JVM has better tools/env, almost no one develop tools thinking in "node build setup".
