My problem with Slack (and all the Slack clones) is that they all look the same, and have a style that wastes so much screen space. I like to have a small chat window sitting in the corner of my screen that I can glance at and keep track of without having to interrupt my current workflow . IRC clients were great for this; Nice and compact which just the conversation at the fore. So yes, give me UTF-8, Emojis, Reactions, Inline Replies, but all in a more compact UI please.
