I had almost as many kernel panics on a 2016 Macbook Pro over a bit over a year of using it I'm still rocking my 2012 Macbook Pro. It's been solid. The only OS I haven't had kernel panics on in recent memory is, indeed, Windows starting with 7, but I have a long list of other reasons I can't/don't/won't use it as my daily driver. I can only stand to do my development on a windows machine by using a Linux VM.
