But I'd wager that disrupting deep sea floors would have detrimental effects on a) commerical fishing, since you are disrupting the ocean ecosystem in a big way b) probably accelerate global warming by leading to CO2 release from carbon sequestered on the floor [1] The first point is easy to explain to anyone, even if they don't believe in anthropogenic climate change and refuse to see the dangers implied by the 2nd..
