Earth’s magnetic field is acting up and geologists don’t know why
- garettmd 8y agoIs this a natural process that's been happening for eons (the speed of magnetic north changing accelerating rapidly) or is this due to man-made interference?
- mooseonsquirrel 8y agothere is a "natural" phenomenon known as chandler wobble. its just part of a bigger scene. basicaly the earth doesnt spin on a perfect axis related to angular momentum. this axis "sputters" like a top that has slowed down and is succumbing to chaotic interferences before it falls. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandler_wobble https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandler_wobble
- LinuxBender 8y agoI remember seeing an article about this several years back. There was a similar diagram showing magnetic north moving towards Russia and the wobble was getting bigger with time.
