It's ironic that the newer wave of self proclaimed liberals cannot stand free speech, as their own freedoms rely on the foundational concept of being able to speak without persecution. Yes, companies aren't bound by free speech laws, but they have monopoly control over reach, and it's worthy to investigate either regulation or an alternative that doesn't systemically censor one school of thought.
Persecute (bad) actions, not speech! Or soon we drift into Orwellian thought policing.
- 13years 8y agoThis is now a cultural battle over free speech more than a legal battle. Regulation and freedom and generally in opposition. Attempting to regulate to get free speech will just open another opportunity for control. Laws tend to follow culture. If you start regulating speech, the shift in culture will inevitable write laws in favor of the censorship viewpoints of concern now.
