Ask YC: What tool do you use for web page / ui mockups?
I dont want to/cant afford to buy photoshop, whats an alternative?
- bigtoga 18y agoPhotoshop and Illustrator here as a Windows guy.
- epi0Bauqu 18y agoSeconded. I use Photoshop Elements though. It is much much cheaper, and I haven't grown past it yet. Certainly not for mock-ups.
- kleevr 18y agogimp, http://www.gimp.org/ http://www.gimp.org/
- Mistone 18y agothanks.
- astrec 18y agoOmnigraffle for wireframes etc. http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnigraffle/pro/ http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnigraffle/pro/
- rantfoil 18y agoHighly recommend Omnigraffle for functional specs / wireframes. You can just move UI around so much faster in a wireframing / diagramming paradigm. Gimp / Photoshop is good for the visual design phase of things. This is really the way to get to the next level of polish.
