Both Pickering & Frost seem so out of touch with reality that it's difficult to read. For one:
> I can see full-stack development emerging as a result of capitalistic exploitation
The "generalist" has always been there, what capitalistic exploitation has to do with it, I don't know.
> We need to address the undervaluing of HTML and CSS for what it is: gender bias.
Pickering & Frost: Did it seem like a good idea maybe hopping on the bandwagon of the populist rhetoric in the media? Next thing we hear about might be that Python is not trans-gender friendly enough...
- jayko 8y agoThe author is just trying to shoehorn his political ideology into a completely irrelevant topic to score social points with his friends and pat himself on the back. There is no need trying to find anything of substance here. He is hearing hoofs, and imagining zebras instead of horses.
- yakshaving_jgt 8y agoThank you for this. For a long time I've had a case of Emperor's New Clothes when it comes to these two people and others in their clique. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this.
- SuperheroicJo 8y ago> Emperor's New Clothes when it comes to these two people Sorry for being a tad slow here, but how so? :) That their opinions about technology are regarded too highly?
- yakshaving_jgt 8y agoYes, or even regarded at all. Frost and Pickering have both written garbage here, and it's totally amazing that we all find it so noteworthy.
- SuperheroicJo 8y ago100% agree with that, and I'm getting downvoted to boot!
