I looked at some other "tips" in the folder and found this: http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~gdguo/driving/RoadMarkings.htm http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~gdguo/driving/RoadMarkings.htm which suggests it's OK to turn into any lane, near or far. That's not acceptable in my state. You must turn into the nearest lane.
